Whampoa Market & Food Centre has reopened on July 2022 after 3 months of repairs and redecoration work. The renovation was done to improve the overall hygiene and cleanliness of the food centre. One of the highlights of the new Whampoa Market & Food Centre is its wide range of food options. There are over 142 food stalls, including three Michelin Bib Gourmand awardees, which accounts for its constant throngs of people and difficulty in securing parking, particularly during peak meal times.

Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall

Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall, also known as Wan Qing Yuan, is a historic site and museum located in the Balestier neighborhood of Singapore. The Memorial Hall is dedicated to the life and work of Dr. Sun Yat Sen, the founding father of modern China. The building was originally constructed in the 19th century as a villa for a wealthy Chinese merchant, and later became the Southeast Asian headquarters of the Chinese Revolutionary Alliance, led by Sun Yat Sen. It was in this building that Sun Yat Sen planned and strategized for the Xinhai Revolution, which eventually led to the overthrow of the Qing dynasty and the establishment of the Republic of China.

Today, the Memorial Hall houses exhibits and artifacts that illustrate the life and legacy of Sun Yat Sen, as well as the historical context of his work in Singapore and Southeast Asia. Visitors can explore the restored villa and its surrounding gardens, view exhibits on Sun Yat Sen’s life and revolutionary activities, and participate in educational programs and events.
